If breakfast is the most important meal of the day, brunch is the most fun. Join some of Australia’s best chefs at our boutique pop-up restaurant right on the shores of Mooloolaba Beach with a wholesome, seasonal and inspirational Sunday brunch. Hatted Sydney chef Nelly Robinson, celebrated chef and hospitality whiz Jesse McTavish and wunderkind executive chef of Vue de Monde Hugh Allen will come together to create a three-course brunch that flaunts the simplicity of Sunshine Coast ingredients.
McTavish is no stranger to seeking out the best homegrown produce. His artisanal-focused and award-winning Top Paddock and Kettle Black cafes in Melbourne have been widely loved – and often queued up for – while his sustainable seafood menu at Dunes Palm Beach has been praised for its lightness and simplicity. Young gun Allen has achieved the career of a veteran chef in his mere 25 years of age – starting as an apprentice at Rockpool before rising the ranks at Vue de Monde to executive chef (where he scored two hats in the 2020 Good Food Guide), and even squeezing in a stint under Rene Redzepi at Noma in Copenhagen. This intense run of prestigious experience has refined his skills with native produce, often using it in creative, highly technical ways. Innovation also runs through Robinson’s Sydney restaurant nel., and has propelled the chef to cook at exclusive events all over the world, including for Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday celebrations in Canberra. His creative flair for utilising seasonal produce will stand out at this beachside brunch.
The morning will be hosted by cookbook author, podcast host and award-winning journalist Magdalena Roze, a constant champion of wholesome, nutritious and seasonal eating. With the ocean lapping the sandy shoreline just steps from your table, the best of the region right on your plate, and inspiring conversation from the menu-makers themselves, this will all feel like you’re still dreaming.
